 |  As freshman roommates at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Maryann Meyer and Laurie Winans forged a long lasting partnership. Laurie's father, Max, formerly in the family baking business, developed the chocolate recipe in 1961. It didn't take long for Winans Candies to become well known in southern Ohio. Max Winans hand made fine chocolates, sold them in his retail shop and worked in the office doing the administrative work as well. In 1992, Max retired and Laurie and her husband Joe Reiser decided to purchase the business. Joe travels worldwide learning new recipes and techniques for manufacturing the finest combinations of chocolate, toffee and other "sweet successes".
In the summer of 2002, Maryann Meyer decided to open Winans Fine Chocolates of Lisle, Illinois. Independently operated under the Winans name, the shop carries the classic Winans recipe combined with gift baskets and special gift items. Our specialty is attention to detail and superior customer service. We have a growing corporate gifting business and ship all over the world.
